Day 1 – Murmansk, RussiaArrival in
Murmansk, the largest city above the Arctic Circle. Transfer to your hotel, check‑in, and time to explore. Optional city walk or visit to the port area. Overnight in hotel.
Day 2 – Boarding the Nuclear IcebreakerTransfer to the port and board the nuclear icebreaker
50 Years of Victory. Attend a safety briefing and ship orientation. Depart through the
Kola Strait into the Arctic waters. Dinner onboard and time to explore the vessel’s facilities.
Days 3–6 – Arctic Ocean NavigationThe icebreaker pushes northward through the Arctic Ocean. These days include:
- Polar navigation through heavy ice fields
- Onboard presentations and lectures on Arctic geography, wildlife and history
- Zodiac excursions to explore sea ice and wildlife (conditions permitting)
- Use of onboard facilities including heated pool, sauna, gym and lounges
- Wildlife observation: seals, walruses, seabirds and, occasionally, whales
Day 7 – Geographic North Pole (90°N)All eyes turn north as the ship reaches the
Geographic North Pole:
- Step onto the Arctic ice floe at 90°N
- Celebrate with a polar barbecue on the ice
- Optional Arctic Ocean plunge (for adventurous travelers)
- Commemorative certificate and photo opportunities
- Return to the ship for celebrations and dinner
Days 8–10 – Franz Josef Land ArchipelagoNavigate southward toward
Franz Josef Land, an isolated archipelago of towering ice cliffs, glacial fjords and rare wildlife. Activities include:
- Zodiac landings on remote islands
- Wildlife observation: polar bears, walruses, arctic foxes, birds
- Visits to historic sites and old research stations
- Short nature walks on tundra and coastal terrain
Days 11–12 – Return Toward MurmanskBegin the journey home:
- Relaxing onboard with lectures and social events
- Observation of marine wildlife and Arctic landscapes
- Time to enjoy sauna, pool and lounge facilities
Day 13 – Disembarkation in MurmanskBreakfast onboard, final goodbyes, and disembarkation in Murmansk. Transfer to the airport for your departure flight. End of expedition.
