What to Expect
Travel from Moscow into the heart of ancient Russia and explore magnificent kremlins, cathedrals, monasteries and historic squares that tell the story of medieval Rus’ culture and Orthodox tradition.
Day 1 – Moscow → Vladimir → Bogolyubovo → Suzdal
Depart from Moscow and head to Vladimir, the historic capital of northeast Rus’. Visit iconic landmarks such as the Golden Gates, the Assumption Cathedral, and ancient frescoes. Continue to Bogolyubovo to see the Church of the Intercession on the Nerl, then arrive in Suzdal for hotel check-in and evening free time.
Day 2 – Suzdal → Ivanovo → Kostroma
Enjoy a guided tour of Suzdal, one of the most atmospheric Golden Ring towns with numerous historic monuments and UNESCO sites. After lunch, travel through Ivanovo for a brief overview before reaching Kostroma, where you’ll stay overnight.
Day 3 – Kostroma → Yaroslavl
Explore Kostroma’s historical center and visit the Ipatiev Monastery and local cheese museum with tasting. Continue to Yaroslavl, a UNESCO-listed city on the Volga River, and enjoy a panoramic city tour featuring its beautiful cathedrals and embankments.
Day 4 – Rostov Veliky → Pereslavl-Zalessky → Sergiev Posad → Moscow
Begin with a visit to the Rostov Veliky Kremlin and its architectural ensemble. Proceed to Pereslavl-Zalessky, then continue to Sergiev Posad to see the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius — one of the most important Russian Orthodox monasteries. Return to Moscow in the evening.
